Why Marijuanas Should Be Legal Argumentative Essay

An obvious advantage of the legal industry is that it is tied to government control, which ensures that the products sold are safe for the consumer. The government can also monitor the production process and issue policies to ensure that the consumer is not exposed to unnecessary risks. Marijuana has not caused an uproar in some of the countries where it has been legalized. The following points can be developed in this essay: Citizens interested in development should therefore ask the government to legalize the drug so that society can enjoy the stated benefits, while avoiding the enormous costs incurred by efforts to keep the drug illegal. There have been several debates about whether marijuana should be legalized or not. Many people assume that this substance is toxic to the human body, but there is hard evidence to the contrary. Marijuana has real benefits that may outweigh the supposed negative consequences. The case for legalizing drugs began in the United States of America. It has been shown to have many medical benefits, including relieving anxiety, relieving pain, relieving nausea, and reducing epileptic seizures. A significant number of states in the United States allow the use of prescription marijuana. There is an ongoing tension between the belief that marijuana effectively treats a variety of diseases and the argument that it has significant negative health effects. However, there has been an effort to legalize the drug in the United States, with twenty-nine states and the District of Columbia legalizing it for medical and recreational purposes. One study also found a sharp increase in marijuana use across the country (Kerr, Lui, & Ye, 2017).

This increase raises significant public health concerns. However, this should not be the case, as marijuana has health benefits and therefore should be legal. It is also argued that marijuana use reduces mental health. Those who oppose the legalization of recreational marijuana like to cite studies showing that users of the drug suffer from memory loss and have restricted blood flow to the brain. They also argue that users are more likely to develop depression and schizophrenia. However, these claims have not yet been fully established by science (Barcott, 2015). The claim about depression and schizophrenia is particularly vague because researchers don`t know if the drug triggers the conditions or is used by smokers to relieve symptoms. In addition, marijuana has been shown to have medicinal benefits. Several countries, particularly in Europe, and the United States have legalized marijuana for medical and recreational purposes. Their decision to legalize marijuana was based on medical reports showing a variety of health benefits associated with the drug (Noonan, 2017). Research shows that marijuana can reduce seizures in people with epilepsy. Several studies have also proven that the drug actually has a variety of health benefits.

For example, Charlotte Figi, who is now 10 years old, had more than 100 seizures per month by the age of three, but since Colorado legalized medical and recreational marijuana, her parents began treating her with this substance, and today her seizures have decreased significantly (Noonan, 2017). Marijuana has also been shown to reduce nausea in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Because of this medicinal value, state governments should consider legalizing the drug. Marijuana should also be legal because it has medicinal value. Medical marijuana has been proven to treat a wide range of „incurable“ diseases and conditions. These include problems due to chemotherapy, cancer, post-traumatic stress disorder, migraines, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy and Crohn`s disease (Caulkins, Kilmer, & Kleiman, 2016). Public health would be improved and the health system would be less burdened if medical cannabis products were made available to people suffering from these diseases. As a result, more public funds would be available for other charitable initiatives such as schools and roads. There are typical mistakes that most students make when writing their argumentative work.
